Art of Living Lifestyle Show

The second Glasgow Lifestyle Show for people with learning and other disabilities who now fund their care through their own budgets. Following the success of their 2011 event, the 2012 exhibition is set to be even bigger and better for 2012.

Motability One Big Day Event

The Motability One Big Day events all offer free admission to the venues, including their exhibitions and attractions. The Motability ‘One Big Day’ events offer disabled people the opportunity to meet Motability advisors first hand and see a range of cars, powered wheelchairs and scooters from different manufacturers and dealerships.
In addition to the Motability specialists providing advice about getting on the road; face painting, free prize draws to win £500 of love-to-shop vouchers, bouncy castles, free tea and coffee and Motability mascot ‘Billy the Bear’ will ensure that the whole family has a great day out. Parking is free at each event and Powered Wheelchairs and Scooters are available for hire.

NAIDEX Scotland

Location: SECC Glasgow
Naidex Scotland (previously known as Independent Living Scotland) is Scotland’s only homecare, disability and rehabilitation exhibition, enabling you to touch, test and compare the latest products to aid independent living (free event, although pre-registration is required). Naidex Scotland showcases the latest products in the disability market including access equipment, beds & pressure relief, children’s disability equipment, communication aids, moving & handling equipment, scooters, wheelchairs and much more.

DNEX - Disability North Exhibition
Date: 2012 Dates TBC
Location: Newcastle Racecourse, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne
A free annual event attracting around 5,000 visitors and now in its 21st year it is the North’s largest Independent living Exhibition. The organisers say that the event is the largest gathering of manufacturers and suppliers of equipment for disabled people in the North of England, although the visitor numbers have not been as strong in recent years it is still worth a visit now the event has relocated from it's previous venue to the Racecourse for 2011.

REHACARE - Germany

Location: Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre, Germany
Rehacare is one of the largest disability exhibitions in the world, established for over 30 years. This fair is an ideal event for anyone with disabilities, care requirements or chronic conditions. Well worth a visit is you are looking for specialist equipment or struggle to find equipment, daily living aids etc in the UK. Exhibitors come from all over the world to showcase their products at Rehacare, see their website for further visitor information.

Showcase South West

A free exhibition showcasing equipment and resources for children and young people with special needs. Over 40 specialist companies, charities and presentations throughout the day.

NAIDEX South

Location: Excel Centre, London
Launched in 2010, Naidex south is the newest addition to Naidex exhibitions. It is a free event that aims to recreate Naidex Birmingham's popular combination of industry-leading suppliers, the latest product innovations and CPD accredited learning. Now in its second year, it may well be worth a visit and has a good range of exhibitors already confirmed to attend.

Special Needs London

This event is focussed on special educational needs, primarily aimed at teachers, carers and local authority representatives. Resources and services from hundreds of educational suppliers offering a wide range of ICT, software and classroom resources to support children in their learning – all under one roof.

Kidz Up North - Disability Exhibition Dedicated to Children
Date: Thursday 25th November 2011 (9:30am - 4:30pm)
Location: Reebok Stadium, Bolton
A free UK disability exhibition totally dedicated to children with disabilities and special needs, their families and carers, as well as the professionals who work with them. A very busy event now in its 11th year, this exhibition has a wide variety of exhibitors and a new section added for this year called "The funding point" to give advice and guidance on where to go to get funding for childrens disability equipment.

Learning Disability Today

The Challenging Behaviour Roadshow
Date: Wednesday 2nd November 2011
Location: Manchester, London, Belfast and Bristol
Supported by the Challenging Behaviour Foundation and Estia Centre, the conference aims to bring together the main stakeholders in services for adults with learning disabilities who exhibit challenging behaviour. Drawing from local and national experience, academic and practical expertise, we will examine and discuss what good practice looks like, for the service user and for service providers, locally, regionally and UK-wide, and consider how to embed this in everyday practice.

Living Well With Autism Seminar
Date: Tuesday 22nd November 2011
Location: Birmingham
It has been three years since the ASD Strategic Action Plan for Wales was launched, leading the world in delivering the first Government autism strategy. With over £10 million of new investment made into autism strategy and research in Wales since 2008, and a further £2 million ring-fenced for ASD initiatives through to 2012, Wales continues to pioneer work in this important area. Across the UK, professionals, carers and people with ASD can learn from the Welsh experience. This seminar captures and shares the essence of what has been achieved. Experts from Scotland and England will also describe the ASD landscape in those countries and where opportunities and challenges lie.

Wheels for all Liverpool- Adapted Cycle Sessions in the North West
2011 Dates and Locations: Wednesday 21st December - Indoor session at Walton Lifestyles
Thursday 22nd December - Indoor session at Greenbank Sports Academy
Friday 23rd December - Outdoor session at Wavertree Tennis Centre
Accessible Christmas cycling sessions designed for children with additional needs. All abilities are welcomed, refreshments are provided and the sessions cost just £1 per child. Cycling projects are running three accessible cycling sessions for chidren over the Christmas period and booking is essential, so get in touch with them to try out everything from handcycles to adapted tandems.
